We had an interesting drive to the campground. I had an idea of how to get there but I really didn’t spend a lot of time examining the route. I also had planned to go out of my way and weigh the rig on the way to the campground. Things didn’t go as planned and I abandoned the idea of getting weighed and went straight to our destination. I didn’t like the direction that the truck GPS wanted to take us so I headed my own way and then let the GPS take over. Of course the GPS doesn’t know I have a twenty eight foot trailer behind me. We found ourselves on winding roads and were approaching a bridge with a five ton limit. I figured we were around fourteen thousand pounds which is seven tons! We avoided that bridge for the twenty five ton bridge but the roads got smaller more twisted and had a lot of close in trees. Well we made it back to major roads ok but I bet people were looking out of their windows wondering what that fool was doing! The whole trip was a little rushed, I wanted to do our first trip, and that helped us get a few life lessons along the way. The first lesson is “haste makes waste” an expression from the year 1575 that I need to heed!
