So we picked Deer Run Camping Resort to be our first campground visited. Some of the factors that made us choose Deer Run were,
- They accept three dogs. $5 for the third dog.
- They were close to our house so if we forgot anything we could run home.
- They are kind of close to my daughter so she could spend some time with us.
They have a reservation form on their website www.deerruncampingresort.com but that doesn’t make a reservation. They will email you back letting you know if your requests are available. A phone call will be required to make the reservation. This time of year the office closes around five, I didn’t check for later hours during the season. We were late showing up at around 5:30 pm and the lady running the office was actually driving out as we pulled up. She got out of her car and walked back to check us in. The paperwork including our gate and parking passes were all ready for us and she just had to charge us for our stay which she did with a great attitude (she was on her way home). There are people who live at the campsite to cover if the office is closed.
The office is also a general store with clothing, trailer/rv supplies snack items and ice cream by the cone. Over a three day period we dealt with three different employee’s all of which were nice and accommodating.
The campground is mostly gravel with gravel roads and most of the lots are gravel. I will be picking up a patio mat before our next trip as I am not excited about gravel underfoot. I peeked into one of the bathhouses and found them to be very clean. They also had a small laundry room if you need some clean clothes. The park seemed very family friendly with a cool looking playground area, a pool, and a gameroom. Did I mention the ice cream in the office, there were about 12 flavors to choose from.
The park was quiet but we were there midweek and ealy season so there were not many people to make noise. We had a good time and will be back in the future.
