So we did our second trip in our travel trailer last week. We stayed at Gettysburg Farm RV Campground and I did a review which you can read here Gettysburg Farm RV Campground. This trip went a lot smoother that the last, not that we had a bad time last time, we just had a few rough spots along the way. You can read about some of the rough spots here Mistakes of our first trip. The first thing that we did right was that we had a couple of days ahead of the trip to prepare, this let us take our time and think about what we needed to take with us and what we needed to do to prepare. The weather did fight us in the beginning making me attach the trailer to the truck and do the final prep items in the pouring rain. We headed out though on scheduleand the rain subsided as we headed toward the campground.
We arrived at the campground and picked out a site to park in. We got backed in and had time for Kathy to work with me during the set up so that she would know how to do all the set up items. Our priority is to get the trailer level and stabilized so that we can set up our fencing and let the dogs out of the truck. This also went without a hitch. Our last trip was only three days while this one gave us four which was nice. I didn’t realize that this was a holiday weekend or we might have stayed the weekend instead of midweek. It was nice to arrive early though and not have an audience of our setting up. We did watch others struggle a bit to get into their sites. Why more people don’t use walkie talkies like we do I will never understand, both at the campsite and at home our maneuvering goes smoothly do to our effective communications during the backing up.
Once we were all set up it was time to relax and enjoy camping. All five of us (Kathy, Me and the dogs) had a very enjoyable time, many walks for the dogs, looking and feeding the farm animals for all of us (Neptune and Venus couldn’t get enough of the animals and would watch them from our campsite). We did a little fishing and a little socializing. Our son drove down and visited with us for a bit and our daughter and her boyfriend came down, went fishing, saw the animals, and ate dinner with us. The weather was perfect and the trip was so enjoyable that Kathy kept mentioning staying longer. We always try to understand what is going through the minds of our pets and I believed that they enjoyed both of our camping trips. The closest thing to confirmation to this fact was that after walking them the day after we arrived home, I unhooked their leases in the front yard and instead of running to the front door as usual, all three ran to the door of the trailer and waited for me.
