Tomorrow is a big day for us. Our trailer has been winterized because we bought it in January. We need to de-winterize it to really test out the water system (winterizing involves draining all the water out of the system and pumping a special anti-freeze into the plumbing to keep your plumbing system from bursting during the winter). Tomorrow is the last day of below freezing temperatures for the next ten days and hopefully the rest of the year (and I mean till 12/31).
I’m going to flush my lines which involves partially filling my fresh water tank and running all the water faucets until the water runs clear. I also need to sanitize my fresh water system which requires putting bleach in the water system and letting it sit for a while. It is also recommended that you drive the trailer around to slosh the bleach water around the tank for a good cleaning.
So here is my plan. I will first flush the system of the anti-freeze which will partially fill my black/grey water tanks. Next I will fill my fresh water tank with the bleach water combo and run the faucets till I smell the bleach. Next I will take my trailer to a dump station where I can do a practice run dumping my black/grey tanks without the fear of getting sewer water on me if I screw up. This will also satisfy the need to slosh the fresh water tank around. When I get home I will flush out the bleach water which I can just dump on my weeds as it is a very small amount of bleach in the water. Once all that is done I can fill the hot water tank and test it out before the season. Hopefully I will have a video of this long anticipated day!
